Savoring Moments You Didn’t Know Deserved Celebration
Have you ever had one of those perfect moments in life when everything seemed to just click? Or maybe a dear wish came true? They say those are the moments that memories are made of. Well, granted, some moments in life are more heartfelt than others, but each one is worthy of our appreciation and gratitude for one reason or another. And all too often, magic moments go unrecognized. Here are 15 Ah-ha moments that we think deserve to be added to the memory jar:
1. Your first paycheck. Doesn’t matter how small it is—no other paycheck will fill you with as much pride or excitement.
2. Driving alone for the first time. It’s one of those moments when you realize, “I’m. Driving!”
3. Date nights with your child. They grow up so fast!
4. Having a good day at work. All too often we feel work is a thankless job, so we need to revel in the good days when they come.
5. Milestones—like when you finally hit that backbend in yoga.
6. The moment you witness a random act of kindness.
7. Traditions—Family traditions mark our holidays and give us a sense of continuity, belonging and self.
8. The in-between stuff, like the five cats that showed up living in your backyard that you eventually came to love (or at least laugh about).
9. The day you mastered reciting the alphabet in Czechoslovakian.
10. Your first apartment. Doesn’t matter if you have one roommate or twenty, you’ve made it out of your parent’s house.
11. Getting approved for you first credit card.
12. Paying off your credit card. (You knew this one was coming after the last one).
13. Compliments. We get too few compliments in life. When you get one, soak it up.
14. Your first job offer. Yes, your first job is memorable, but the actual “offer”… well, that deserves celebration with a mariachi band!
15. Appreciating the moment right now. “Presence teaches that what you do today is important because you are trading a day of your life for it.” Dan Millman, The Laws of Spirit.
