GetAssist Issues Fundraising Challenge for Wednesday’s BNC Fundraiser
Winnipeg, Manitoba – Bruce Fikowski, CEO of Get Assist, Inc., offered a friendly fundraising challenge to his fellow Winnipeg business professionals to meet or exceed his $1,000 donation to the Broadway Neighborhood Centre (BNC) on Wednesday.
“Fundraising for worthwhile causes remains part and parcel of strong and healthy communities,” Fikowski said. “We are working at our level best to ensure that we support Winnipeg as much as it supports us.”
The BNC will hold a dawn to dusk fundraiser on Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2018 to raise a minimum $20,000 to fund its free youth programming. The BNC promotes healthy lifestyles, positive change, respect and building communities.
“In some cases the meals that youth receive here at BNC might be the only meal they have all day,” BNC Executive Director Lawrence “Spatch” Mulhall said. “When children know that their needs are met at a place like BNC, a sense of peace envelops their lives. We start at the most basic level, which is meeting children’s fundamental needs to help them reach their full potential.”
The Centre – which has grown from serving 15 kids to more than 100 over the past two years – offers several activities after school and during the summer months such as archery, water polo, fishing, cooking and swimming.
In addition to the cash donation, employees from the Get Assist Network Centre, located at 236 Osborne Street South C in Winnipeg’s Confusion Corner, will volunteer at various locations throughout the day.
