Extreme Spring Clean
Remember all the moments during the winter months when you said, “This coming Spring/Summer I’m going to fix…” or “When it gets nicer out, I’m going to clean…”? Yeah, we’ve all been there. As soon as the sun starts to shine and the weather gets nice out, that do-it mentality goes away. Thinking about carrying out the usual spring cleaning and maintenance tasks as listed below is not very inspiring.
- Lawncare
- Landscape clean-up
- Plant annual flowers
- Spread mulch
- Wipe down walls and fixtures
- Clean ceiling fans
- Clear cobwebs
- Organize storage
- Change the furnace filter
- Sweep out the garage
- Change the oil in the lawn mower
While all important, with the usual spring cleaning tasks comes the same old slightly improved look, but what if you went a step further this year and not only cleaned up but spruced up the homestead to create something new? Having an outcome to look forward to when the labour is finished, can motivate even the most disheartened of caretakers.
Consider this list of extreme spring cleaning and maintenance tasks to take your home to the next level:
- Exterior window-cleaning
- Power wash exterior siding
- Replace outdoor light fixtures
- Paint the front door and flower boxes
- Clean or replace the welcome mat
- Add a rug and sizeable potted plant to your patio
- Sand and weatherize or paint the deck
- Replace the old mailbox
- Trim and shape the bushes
- Wash all the baseboards, or repaint them if they are dinged up
- Shampoo the carpets
Imagine how different your house and property would look and feel after all is said and done!
